The E-module, Reading and Writing Workshop at the American Embassy School (AES), was created for Introduction to E-learning (EDCI 56900). The module was designed to adapt to teacher turnover and increase student achievement by improving inclusive practices and collaboration. This model is the beginning of AES clearly articulating their pedagogies in order to create a common understanding school’s desired method and practices of teaching (i.e. the workshop model). The module will result in teachers, teacher assistants and learning coaches’ cohesive understanding of common reading and writing workshop practices and how they are implemented. Furthermore, the school will meet its larger goal of adapting to teacher turnover and improving inclusive practices and collaboration.

Digital Story

The digital story a Paintbrush Inspired by a Carrot was created for Educational Applications of Media (EDCI 56600). In this story I tell a narrative about me using the Design Process and inspirations from plant and animal structures to create a paintbrush for a boy with severe cerebral palsy. The narrative is used in conjunction with Next Generation Science Standards unit on plant and animal structures to teach students how they can be inspired by these structures to create and invent solutions to their problems. The narrative also teaches the Design Process. See the storyboard for more information.

The job aid, 4 Steps to Writing An Effective Learning Target, was created for Educational Applications of Media (EDCI 56600). The job aid was designed as a piece of supplemental material for preschool to grade 5 teacher training sessions. The purposes of the training are to teach teachers (the trainees) about learning targets and improve their practice by including them in their instruction and planning. During the session teachers also learn how to write a learning target with the assistance of a coach or a teacher expert on learning targets, and the job aid. See the Job Aid Framework for more information.
