OBJECTIVE
To enhance learning in schools and in the corporate arena by working closely with colleagues and the curriculum to improve the methods in which content is delivered using technology so that optimal and diversified learning and understanding can take place.
EXPERIENCE
First Grade Teacher – American Embassy School, New Delhi, India (US National Curricula) Aug 2014 – present
- Identify student needs by creating standard-based analytical and holistic rubrics in Microsoft Word. These rubrics allow teachers to easily identify students’ levels of proficiency within an area of content, and align expectations of all first grade classes.
- Analyze student data from fluency and curriculum-based assessments on Microsoft Excel to determine instructional needs, measure growth in math and literacy, and enable flexible strategy and targeted instructional groups. Students’ reading and math all progressed to grade level or above. Participated in the use of assessments school-wide and the training of faculty with the Student Support Team Student Referral Committee.
- Integrate creativity and productivity applications (i.e. Explain Everything and Book Creator) strategically to demonstrate students’ learning. Also use applications that engage and support individual learning (i.e. Moby Max and Raz-Kids) into all subject areas. Students are showing higher levels of engagement at school and home.
- Establish home/school connections through parent and student blogs that increase student learning and interest. Blogs communicate unit contents, objectives, resources, supports, and show student learning.
- Implement the engineering design process approach to learning in first grade using NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) research-based science curriculum. Students have become adept at defining a problem, planning and developing solutions, and revising solutions to improve their work.
First Grade Teacher – Ruamrudee International School, Bangkok, Thailand (US National Curricula) Aug 2010 – June 2014
- Researched elementary literacy field experts’ units and early learning methodologies as team leader to develop units of study using an Understanding by Design approach to planning based on ATLAS – Rubicon Curriculum Design. The units increased students’ ability to read and write in a variety of genres.
- Hosted Labs to support teachers in the learning of the workshop model as Writers’ Workshop Implementation Team Member. Offered presentations as additional support in using the workshop model after teachers adopted it school-wide.
- Presented comprehensive daily and long-term learning objectives using Microsoft PowerPoint. Objectives were written in student friendly language that consist of the content, skills, vocabulary, and what supports students will use to help achieve the intended learning outcome.
- Guided students’ thinking using authentic math situations and supports (i.e. counters and number lines) to allow students to construct their own understanding. Students were able to clearly explain their mathematical reasoning orally and on paper, and moved from a concrete to a more abstract explanation of concepts.
- Facilitated the development and implementation of interactive class and student notebooks as Social Studies Head of Department and Instructional Leadership Team member. Interactive notebooks were easily integrated into other subject areas, which helped solve the problem of not having adequate time for Social Studies within a school day.
Host – International School Search, Bangkok, Thailand Jan of 2012 & 2013
- Assisted in coordinating teacher candidate and teacher recruiters as a host for recruiting job fairs that provided employment to teachers globally.
